If you join MilitarySuper, you must contribute to MilitarySuper. Your DFRDB pension will be suspended during your engagement. After discharge, your pension will recommence and be recalculated to include any Consumer Price Index (CPI) movements.
You will also be entitled to MilitarySuper benefits, which are generally not paid until you reach preservation age. You may wish to seek professional advice for your situation.
Your MilitarySuper employer benefit will grow at the new entrant rate of 18% of FAS.
