Restoration of reversionary pensions

Prior to 1977, a DFRB or DFRDB pension payable to a widow ceased on their re-marriage. In some instances these pensions were later restored in full or in part when the person could demonstrate financial hardship or necessitous circumstances. Following a legislative amendment effective from 1 January 2008, widows are now entitled to full restoration of their pension, including those whose pensions were previously only partially restored.
