Defence superannuation on review

In early 2007 the Government announced an independent review of military superannuation arrangements.

The aim of this review was to assess the suitability of the existing arrangements in light of the significant recent changes in the wider superannuation environment and the changing demographics of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The DFRDB Authority has been advised that the accrued superannuation benefits of serving and former Members of the ADF will not be affected by this review.

The Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence, who has responsibility for Military Superannuation, commissioned the review. The review has been conducted by an independent Review Team with support from civilian and military personnel in the Department of Defence.

Consultation with key stakeholders finished on 30 March 2007.

In July 2007 the Review Team handed their Report to the Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence.  We are now awaiting the Government Response.
